Blackouts continue

Blackouts hit Santo Domingo and interior cities yesterday as 30% of the circuits were shut off. Superintendent of Electricity, Jose Ovalles, confirmed to El Siglo that 69 of 216 circuits were out of service. Ovalles explained, “The situation is that the distributors continue to ration the supply of power.” Some circuits are out because of technical problems, others for financial reasons, he said. Reportedly several power plants were out of service, including Itabo I and II, Haina Gas, Barahona Gas, Victoria and Los Mina V and VI.
