President Mejia had dinner with the president of the Colorado Rockies, Jerry McMorris during his trip to Colorado. He also threw the first ball in a game between the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks at the Coors Field Stadium. During his visit he announced that his government would make available State Sugar Council lands to all US Major League teams that wanted to set up training camps in the DR. Dominican ball players Neifi Perez, Jose Jimenez and Pedro Julio Astacio were with the President during the activity. In Colorado, President Mejia also met with tour operators from Houston and Colorado in an activity organized by Hans Dannenberg. Dannenberg said that the main deterrent to increased tourism from the West of the US to the DR was the lack of a direct flight.
