President Hipolito Mejia announced that as of Monday, 2 July members of his cabinet will appear on TV to explain how they found their departments and the programs they have carried out during the first year of government. The presentations will be on Mondays and Thursdays on Television Dominicana, Channel 4, the state television station. Vice President Milagros Ortiz Bosch who is in charge of the Ministry of Education will make the first presentation. The presentations will last through 14 August. On 16 August, the date that commemorates the government’s first year in office, President Mejia will speak to the nation to explain the accomplishments of his first year. Scheduled presentations of cabinet ministers were made during the Balaguer administration (1986-1990) to discredit the previous PRD Jorge Blanco government.
