President Mejia urged his government officers to not discuss their differences in public. He especially referred to the heated debates between government officers on economic matters. The President said that the discussions are projecting a distorted image of the present administration. Furthermore, during the Government Council held yesterday at the National Palace he urged the cabinet ministers not to intervene in party politics. He especially said cabinet ministers should remain removed from the organization of the upcoming convention where the new party directors and candidates to municipal and congressional posts will be chosen. President Mejia said he would not intervene in these discussions and would continue governing for all Dominicans, regardless of their political party preference.
