President Hipolito Mejia travels this afternoon to Bahamas to participate in the XXII Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Economic Community (Caricom). This is Mejias 15th trip abroad in less than a year in government. High up on his agenda is to lobby among Caribbean heads of state in order to secure their support to the DRs aspirations to a seat on the United Nations Security Council. The DRs leading contender for the seat is Mexico. Mexican President Vicente Fox is also traveling to Bahamas to convince Caribbean heads of government to vote for Mexico.
