In its editorial today, El Caribe newspaper focuses on the debate between the President of the Senate and President Mejia regarding the recent borrowing spree of the PRD administration. What is meaningful in the recent statements is not that they were made, as President Mejia says, by Ramons hangover, who has not yet recovered from events that reduced his political clout. Neither is it that Senator Alburquerque is the leading role player in these rash and onerous acts. What is generally meaningful is that the authorities and political leaders speak and act responding to their most immediate interests, in all cases removed completely from the general well-being, because they have dedicated themselves to weave an immense spider web of ignominious debts in which first they will be trapped, and later the nation.
