The president of the International Weight Lifting Federation, Tamas Ajan, congratulated the 2003 Pan American Games Organizing Committee for its advances and he forecast the Santo Domingo Games would be the best so far. “A week ago, I was in Athens where the Olympic Games will be held in 2004 and I can assure you that Santo Domingo is better placed and more organized for the Pan Am Games than Athens for the Olympic Games.” Ajan is in Santo Domingo for the Panamerican Weight Lifting Championship.
