Kills his fellow worker and holds hostages

A 23-year-old watchman at the Acropolis commercial center under construction on Winston Churchill Avenue apparently lost control on Saturday evening. He killed a fellow watchman and then boarded a motorcycle-taxi. The police were on his trail so he entered a small hotel in the Buenos Aires low-income neighborhood of Herrera where he held a family of three hostage until Sunday morning. He forced the man, Pantaleon Ventura at gunpoint to leave the room, and kept 24-year-old Blasina Santana and her five-year-old daughter with him. Wilman Henriquez gave himself up after several hours of negotiations with Police Chief Pedro de Jesus Candelier, Attorney General Virgilio Bello Rosa and a neighborhood priest.
