Governor of the Central Bank Frank Guerrero Prats spoke up on Sunday, days after President Mejia called him a half mute. He did not confirm that the nation had increased money in circulation to RD$17 billion, as erroneously reported by President Mejia, but he did have some good news to spread. He said that the gross reserves of the Central Bank had reached a record of US$900 million and that there would be no problems at years end to meet the countrys international commitments. He said this is the highest level of the reserve in the history of the Central Bank. He said net reserves are at US$550 million.
