The Chamber of Deputies passed US$52 million in financing for the construction of 300 schools and repair of 450 other middle education schools, as part of a modernization program under the Ministry of Education. The loan from the InterAmerican Development bank establishes that the funds will be disbursed over a four year period, and six months after the funds are disbursed the government will be obliged to pay for the debt in installments. El Siglo points out that the loan was negotiated during the Fernandez government, but not passed by Congress until now.
