A tropical storm is developing in the Caribbean that could affect the South of the Dominican Republic. At 11 am, the DR government issued a tropical storm warning for the South Coast from Isla Saona to Cabo Beata. A tropical storm watch is in place for Cabo Beata to the border of Haiti. Unless the storm makes an abrupt change in its west-northwest track, it will not come near the other coasts of the DR. The storm at 11 am EDT Friday, was located at 14.5 north latitude, 64.7 west longitude or about 440 kms (275 miles) South-Southeast of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Forecasters at the US National Hurricane Center in Miami caution those in the eastern and central Caribbean to pay attention to the storms development.
