The Classic Cabarete 2001, a windsurfing tournament, will take place in Cabarete Beach on the North Coast this weekend, 6 and 7 October. Juan Alorda, president of the Dominican Windsurfing Association made the announcement. The event is sponsored by Ciclon, a popular beverage imported from Venezuela. About 25-30 competitors are expected to participate in the different categories. The event will coincide with the Puerto Plata Jazz Festival which will take place in nearby Sosua on Saturday, 6 October and Sunday, 7 October in Cabarete. (5 October 2001)
