Hoy reports that the Executive Vice President of the Pan Am games organizing committee has resigned. Ra?l Barrientos presented his resignation last month to President Mej?a who accepted it this week. There is much speculation about why Barrientos is leaving but he isn?t commenting on his reasons. Barrientos said, ?My mission is completed on the committee and I?m leaving in peace and with my head held high.? The President of the Pan Am committee, Jos? Joaqu?n Puello, said he had heard the rumors and wants to sit down with Barrientos to discuss the situation. Puello says President Mej?a will name someone to replace Barrientos, possibly within days. Barrientos had only been in the post since January.
