684 illegal billboards have been removed from Dominican highways in an effort to clean up the roadways. The Public Works department campaign against unauthorized outdoor signs began in May and its goal is to take down 1364 signs in total. Engineer Julio Almonte told El Siglo that 50% of the signs that were removed were on Las Americas highway between Los Tres Ojos and Boca Chica. The other 50% were between kilometers nine and 26 of the Duarte highway.
