The National Police dislodged dozens of people that had built shacks on government property and private property in recent months hoping to benefit from the limbo period of government transition. Chief of the Police, Major General Flying above in a helicopter, Pedro de Jesus Candelier supervised the eviction operations that took place in Palavé, Manoguayabo, Los Alcarrizos and Hato Nuevo. The squatters usually purchase the lots from promoters of illegal land invasions, paying up to RD$10,000 for what they believe will be theirs.
