The Ministry of Tourism recently announced its support of the Dominican Republic Merengue Festival in New York City. Set for Sunday, 9 July at Central Park, the event is also endorsed by the New York City Hall and the New York City Department of Parks. The event will also feature a talk on the history of Dominican merengue by Professor Paul Austerlitz. Los Hermanos Rosario, Los Toro Band and Milly Quezada, three leading Dominican merengue bands will entertain all dropping by the park as of 3 pm. For one hour that afternoon there will be free merengue lessons for the general public.
