President-elect Hipólito Mejía clarified that he is supporting Amable Aristy Castro to continue in the Dominican Municipal League (LMD). A group of PRD men wanted to position Julio Mariñez as of 16 August, but the President-elect made it clear that movement did not have his support. Furthermore, he said that the Supreme Court is studying the case. The LMD channels government funds to city governments. In the internal PRD election of the candidate to vie for the LMD, Mejía had supported Eligio Jáquez for the post of PRD candidate to the LMD position.
