El Siglo newspaper reports that work continues at a fast pace on the construction of the Santo Domingo Cyberpark and the Las Americas Institute of Technology under construction near the Las Americas International Airport. Reportedly, President Leonel Fernandez has given orders that the first phase be concluded by August, when his term ends, and has assigned the project top priority in government funding. The project features the construction of industrial plants and the building to house the Las Americas Institute of Technology. Hotels, residential community and a golf course will complement these buildings, as part of a second phase. The Dominican government is the owner of the Las Americas Institute of Technology, while a private sector-government organization has been set up to manage the industrial zone. Construction began in February of this year.
