Ramón Báez Figueroa takes over the Listín

Banker Ramón Báez Figueroa was appointed president of the Editora Listín Diario. 44-year old Baez Figueroa is president of the Grupo Intercontinental (Baninter). Báez Figueroa replaces Eduardo Pellerano Nadal, who assumed the chief executive position of the newspaper at the death of his father, Rogelio A. Pellerano. Báez’s brother, José Miguel Báez Figueroa, had been for many years treasurer of the newspaper. Báez Figueroa announced the appointment of 49-year old Miguel Franjul as the new executive editor of the Listín Diario (he replaces Mozart Delancer) and confirmed 50-year old Ruddy González as the executive editor of the Ultima Hora afternoon daily. Miguel Franjul has worked with the Televida channel of the Catholic Church, as public relations advisor with the Banco Popular Dominicana. In the newspaper business, he was managing editor at the Listín Diario, managing editor of Hoy newspaper, and chief editor of La Información in Santiago. At the time of his appointment, he was executive editor of La Nación afternoon newspaper. Major changes in the Listín Diario administrative and editorial staff of the newspaper are expected. The Listin is the oldest newspaper still published in the DR. It dates back to 1889. It is the local newspaper with the largest circulation, and largest advertising market share. The Banco Intercontinental group also owns El Siglo and La Nación newspaper. It has investments in Channel 13 and several radio stations.
