US Ambassador's firm selected as counsel to Democratic Convention

US Ambassador to the Dominican Republic’s law firm, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips was selected by the Democratic National Convention Committee to serve as the DNCC’s Los Angeles law firm for the convention that is scheduled for that city. Manatt partner Lisa Specht will be the firm’s principal liaison with the DNCC, and Craig J. de Recat, co-chair of the firm’s Litigation and Employment Unit, will work with her. Specht serves as a strategic advisor to candidates and elected officials. A Business Wire release says that the Manatt firm has been associated with government and politics at the federal, state and local levels since its founding in 1965. Charles T. Manatt, a founder of the firm, is the United States Ambassador to the Dominican Republic. He previously served as the chairman of the Democratic National Committee and co-chairman of the 1992 Clinton/Gore Campaign. Additionally, he served as chairman of the California/Southern California Democratic Party.
