The National Police reported the arrest of 50-year old Luis Colón Osorio a well publicized Puerto Rican terrorist who has been accused of drug trafficking and has been linked to the armed group that in 1983 stole US$7.2 million from a Wells Fargo bank in the US to help finance Puerto Rico independence activities. Colón Osorio is a Vietnam War vet who has been linked to the clandestine group Ejercito Popular Boricua, or Los Macheteros. The Police is investigating what he came to do in the DR. They suspect he could have performed a terrorist act. He was slated to depart Saturday morning on an AA flight. The Police says a Pietro Bereta gun was found in a backpack in his Hotel Caribeño room where he was arrested. Colón says he came for a vacation and that the police framed him. FBI agents are expected in Santo Domingo today to assist with the investigations.
