The rector of the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo, Miguel Rosado announced the canceling of the summer course at the state university. A small group of students boycotted the increase of the cost of credits from RD$15 to RD$40, resulting in a week closing of the facility. Rosado said the university will remain closed to facilitate the clean up operation that seeks to rid the university of makeshift businesses that dot the campus on the outside and inside the schools. He announced the UASD would reopen on 31 July.
