Carlos Grullon Castro, a Dominican requested in extradition by the US government, was arrested in Panama in a joint intelligence effort of US and Dominican authorities. Grullon Castro is condemned to 30 years prison in the DR and a RD$2 million fine in the DR. He faces an accusation of murdering his wife in Westchester, New York in 1991. He was arrested in a Panama hotel, as reported by the Dominican Drug Control Department. From Panama he was flown to New York via Miami. US Congressman Benjamin Gilman had boycotted a US$6 million donation to the DR on grounds that the Dominican government had not made all efforts to find Grullón and extradite him.
