The Santo Domingo Table Tennis Association (Atemedina) inaugurated a talent school at Minecom, a private company located on Avenida Prolongación 27 de Febrero that has offered the facility. The DR was many years ago a world class ping pong contender, and now the Dominican Table Tennis Federation wants to develop a new crop of athletes, especially in time for the Pan Am Games of 2003 in Santo Domingo. Some 40 young athletes are training at the new facilities. Several companies in addition to Minecom have supported the activity. These include Butler and Asociados, Manantiales del Este, Bon Agroindustrial, Mercasid, Electronica Sang, Molinos del Caribe, Malla y Compañía, Jet Pac and Dalsan company.
