President Rene Preval of Haiti arrived yesterday for the inaugural of President-elect Hipólito Mejía. Upon arriving he expressed his commitment to continuing to work with the DR to strengthen links and understanding amongst the two nations. He arrived accompanied by his wife, First Lady Geri Benoit and a committee of eleven government officers. President of Taiwan, Chen Shui Bian also arrived yesterday for the inaugural ceremony. Twenty-two government officers and 30 journalists accompanied the statesman. Today, the President of Costa Rica, Miguel Angel Rodríguez and President of Honduras Carlos Flores and the Prince of Asturias, Felipe de Borbón are expected.
