The Executive Committee of the Pan American Games announced the integration of new members. These will be sworn in on 5 September. Dr. Jose Joaquin Puello, president of the Organizing Committee of the Santo Domingo 2003 Games said that engineer Bienvenido Solano will be appointed General Director of the Games, replacing Professor Danilo Aquino. Danilo Aquino will become Executive Secretary of the Committee. Bienvenido Solano is a vice president of the Dominican Olympic Committee. He is also president of the Boxing Federation. Other new members of the Santo Domingo 2003 Pan Am Games Committee are: Vice President and Minister of Education Milagros Ortiz Bosch Lieutenant General Jose Miguel Soto Jiménez, Minister of the Armed Forces Dr. José Rodríguez Soldevilla, Minister of Public Health Engineer Ramón Alburquerque, President of the Senate Rafaela Alburquerque, president of the Chamber of Deputies Businessman Rafael Perelló, president of Industrias Banilejas (Café Santo Domingo). Minister of Sports Cesar Cedeño Minister of Public Works Miguel Vargas Maldonado News reports are not clear on whether former minister of Public Works Diandino Peña, former Minister of Sports Juan Marichal and former Minister of Industry & Commerce Luis Manuel Bonetti will continue on the committee. Other committee members are Arturo Valdez, Francis Malla, reverend Manuel Estrella, Luisín Mejia and Jaime Casanova.
