The National Police closed a clandestine consulate that operated in Los Girasoles, in Santiago. News reports in El Siglo and the Listin Diario say that four individuals were arrested. Their main clients were Dominicans who had been deported from the US and wanted to return to the US under another identity. At the clandestine consulate, the Police uncovered 86 false passports, 250 blank forms for property titles, 23 documents for the preparation of fraudulent ID (cedula) cards, 350 car registrations, and seals bearing the names of the American Chamber of Commerce, US Migration Department, Title Registration Office, Ministry of Foreign Relations and civil registry offices in Santiago. On site, the Police recovered equipment for preparing ID cards that had been stolen from the Junta Central Electoral.
