The National Treasury reported it retained 47% of the checks of government central officers on payday, 25 September. Treasurer Pastora Méndez de Fondeur said that of 443 Executive Branch executives that are required to declare their assets, 235 did not do so in time. President Hipólito Mejía has threatened to fire cabinet members who do not present their personal goods inventories. The Treasurer said those that do not declare will not get paid until they do so.
