New power plant complex in operation

President Hipólito Mejía attended the start of operations of the Unión Fenosa 102,500-kilowatt power-generating complex in Palamara. The new installation was built at a cost of US$78 million. Union Fenosa will soon place into operation another plant in La Vega producing 87,500 kilowatts. This power plant is going up at a cost of US$67 million. Union Fenosa recently announced their intention to build a 500,000-kilowatt plant that would eventually operate with natural gas in association with Enron Dominicana at a cost of US$550 million.
