Pedro Martínez, winner of the 2000 Cy Young Award of the American League, said in a press conference that he would like Manny Ramírez, of the Cleveland Indians, to join the Boston Red Sox. "Manny mentioned that Boston was one of the places he would like to go. I do not doubt Boston will make him an offer, even though it will be difficult for him to leave Cleveland," he said. "If I see Manny in Boston, I’ll celebrate big. You can be sure of that," he told Dominican sports journalists in a press conference held upon his return from the US where he flew to receive the Cy Young Award. Martínez feels strongly that Manny Ramírez would help his team win a championship. During the press conference, Martínez received a congratulatory call from President Mejía.
