Former President announces Monday, 25 November talk

Former President Leonel Fernández (1996-2000) confirmed he would address the nation on Monday, 25 November. Fernández had practically remained mute since the start of the new government, despite accusations rolled against the PLD and his government by the new incumbents. Fernández, who is expected to be a strong contender in the 2004 election, had given the Mejía government 100 days prior to answering accusations. The 100 days will soon be up. Mejía accused the past government of leaving a RD$25,000 million debt. According to press reports, Fernández will address why the country entered into economic crisis shortly after President Mejía assumed the presidency.
