Good news for those driving along Dominican roads and highways. The Dominican government will be taking out a US$10 million soft loan with the government of Mexico for posting signs on major highways and roads. The Ministry of Public Works announced the program calls for signs to go up along 811 kilometers throughout the country. These highways include Santo Domingo-Higuey, Santo Domingo-Barahona, Santo Domingo-Monte Cristi, Santiago-Navarrete, Puerto Plata-Nagua-Samana. At the present time, there are scant signs on the roads. Those that do not know how to get around have to resort to constantly asking to get to their destination. (21 November 2000)
