The president of the National Business Council (CONEP), Celso Marranzini, recognized his organization was wrong to support a proposal to set clocks back in the DR. This change was made in October. He said his organization now requests that the government revert to the original time as the energy savings (the primary reasoning behind the change) has not been achieved. The decision to change the hour was proposed by the Dominican Academy of Sciences and the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD). (23 November 2000)
