In an interview with Hoy newspaper, the president of Orange, the France Telecom brand, Raoul Fontanez announced the company has plans to use the Santo Domingo headquarters as launching point for penetrating Latin America. In the Americas, the company operates in Guadaloupe, Martinique, St. Martin, St. Barts and the Guyanas. The company has started its operations offering attractively priced mobile communication. Fontanez says that the idea is to make cellular plans so attractive that anyone can have a cellular phone. Fontanez explained the company has been building their network for the past eight months. They are operating in Santo Domingo, Santiago, La Romana and San Francisco de Macorís, he told Hoy newspaper. He says Orange cellular clients have access to services such as conference calls for six persons at the same time, voice mail, fax receiving of up to 15 pages, direct messaging from one cellular to another, long duration batteries, and better prices than the competition. He announced the company will soon be marketing the Orange Card, a very competitive prepaid calling card.
