President Hipólito Mejía announced that in four more months the DR will be exporting its fruits and vegetables to the Caribbean as part of a general market opening offensive. This offensive will also boost exports to Europe and the US, he said. He said the country seeks to become a major exporter of organic products to Europe and the US. "I am convinced that we will be able to compete in those markets," he said in Raleigh, North Carolina.
