Free Zones to review salaries

The president of the Santiago Free Zone Association, Carlos Manuel ?lverez, said yesterday that the industry leader would review the salaries of its workers under minimum-wage contracts. The review is the association?s response to the rise in prices over the past few months. The salaries will be revised in conjunction with the National Commission on Salaries. At the same time, he explained that the economic situation in the United States has caused a few industries to downsize and reduce their workers, as contracts diminish. According to ?lvarez, the US economy ?is not growing, and therefore, there is no increase in demand.?
