No more taxes on airfares, please

The president of the Dominican Association of Travel Agencies, Carlos Alonso, said that airline tickets sold in the Dominican Republic cannot bear any more taxes. A US$242 ticket on the Santo Domingo-New York route incurs US$133
in taxes and surcharges.
US charges on this fare come to US$39.10, broken down as follows: US$26 for International Transport to US government, US$7 US for federal inspection, US$3.10 for APHIS-USA, and US$3 cargo charge for Customs.
The DR portion of taxes on the fare amount to US$93.90, broken down as follows: US$29 ITBIS, US$20 Port Authority DR, US$24.90 Aerodom, US$20 departure tax.
