South American statesmen to meet in DR

The presidents of Brazil and Uruguay, the International Monetary Fund and the Interamerican Development Bank will be in Santo Domingo for the 6th Meeting of the Uruguay Circle. The event will be held 12-13 November in Santo Domingo. The central issue to be discussed is social cohesion within the general framework of governability as countries incorporate integration and globalization in their development schemes. Presidential candidates, leading politicians and statesmen have been invited to the meetings that will take place at the School of Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Relations. In addition to President Fernando Henríques Cardosso of Brazil and President Julio Maria Sanguinetti of Uruguay, the president of the European Commission, Manuel Marín; former statesman Felipe González of Spain; former President Belisario Betancur, Colombia; former President Ernesto Pérez Balladares, Panama; and the presidents of the IMF Michel Camdessus and Enrique Iglesias of the IDB have also confirmed they will attend. President Leonel Fernández is a member of the Círculo de Montevideo.
