More than 30 heads of state and government and over 70 delegations from Europe, the United States, Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific nations are expected to attend the opening of the II Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Summit at the National Theater at 10 am, Thursday, 25 November. President Leonel Fernández of the Dominican Republic and El Hadj Omar Bongo of Gabon will give the keynote opening speeches. Since last week, ambassadors, Lomé coordinators, and ministers of foreign relations of ACP countries have been working on the final details of the Santo Domingo Declaration. The declaration will present the unified position of the ACP before the European Union regarding the negotiations for a successor agreement to the Lomé IV trade and cooperation treaty. The ACP countries will meet with European Union officials in Brussels, 5-10 December.
