District Attorney criticized

Minister of Interior and Police criticized District Attorney Francisco Domínguez Brito for giving in to pressures and releasing union leader Juan Hubieres on Friday evening. The syndicate leader is accused by the National Police of illegal possession of a gun and obstructing the entrance to the National Palace. Hubieres and 31 other chauffeurs were arrested by the Police. The group has said it will return to the National Palace to protest for the exclusion of the union chauffeurs from routes being assigned by the government as part of its traffic improvement plan. Domínguez later said that Hubieres was freed with the condition that he would show up at the D.A.’s office today for questioning.
