Dominicans are proud of Dominican-American Rolando Tomás Acosta who became the first Dominican judge of a Civil Court in New York. Acosta was sworn in as judge yesterday and dedicated his appointment to his mother, who he said died at age 58, exploited by her work in textile factories where she toiled 18 hours a day for 20 years.
