Skepticism about government prosecuting corrupt persons

A recent Gallup poll showed that Dominicans are skeptical about the anti-corruption efforts of President Leonel Fernández. 64% of Dominicans are skeptical about the Attorney General prosecuting cases of corruption in the past administration. Furthermore, 57% of those polled did not agree with Attorney General Abel Rodríguez’s decision not to prosecute Senator Antonio Felix Pérez for the Bahía de las Aguilas beach land scandal. Investigations have shown that the senator used his influence to purchase the valuable beach lands for re-sale to foreign investors. The Attorney General did not include the senator in the case because he returned the land titles that were in his name.
