The Corporación Dominicana de Electricidad chose the British-U.S. energy consortium, Scotia Energy-Congentrix to build a combined cycle power plant capable of generating 250,000 kilowatts to be located in San Pedro de Macorís. The firms won the tender held recently with the participation of 17 firms. Ansaldo Energia and ABB Energy Ventures/Endesa were the runner-ups of the tender. Construction works will begin by mid 1998 and the plant should be in operation by 1999.
