El Siglo newspaper said that President Hipólito Mejía traveled to Guatemala yesterday at 4:30 pm by private jet. Minister of Foreign Affairs Hugo Tolentino Dipp, Minister of Industry and Commerce Angel Lockward, and former governor of the Central Bank Eduardo Fernández accompanied him. The newspaper says that the latter is President Mejía’s choice to be the DR’s next ambassador to Canada. (28 September 2000)
