Minister of Public Works Miguel Vargas Maldonado told the Listin Diario newspaper that his department is advancing on final details to start the Santo Domingo-Samana highway. The idea is to cut the driving time from four hours at present to two hours. The highway will cut through the province of Monte Plata. The Mejia administration also recently purchased the land on which Aerodom will build a major airport servicing tourists heading to the Playa Grande-Rio San Juan-Nagua-San Francisco de Macoris area as well as the province of Samana.
