Dominican Latin Billboard Award winners Monchy and Alexandra will perform live on stage 16-18 May at the National Theater, and again on 23-25 May at the Gran Teatro Regional in Santiago. The popular duo recently received a double win for Tropical/Salsa Album of the Year for their work on “Confesiones… ” and for Tropical/Salsa Airplay Track by a Duo or Group for “Te Quiero Igual Que Ayer” (J&N Sony Discos). The Billboard Awards took place 9 May in Miami.
The Miami Herald, in its coverage of the awards, said that with the Monchy & Alexandra double-win, ?Bachata had sealed its position as a viable commercial style.?
The awards, presented at the Miami Arena, honored the most popular albums, songs and performers in Latin music, as determined by sales and radio airplay data published on Billboard’s weekly charts.
The twosome will go on stage along with other Bachata greats, such as Yoskar Sarante, who was also nominated by Billboard.
