Cibao to get a Courtyard Marriott

Promoters of the 138-room Courtyard Mariott Santiago announce the opening of the city hotel for spring 2006. The five-storey hotel will serve guests from its location at Duarte Highway, only five kms from the Cibao International and nine kilometers from the city center. Promoters also expect to attract those headed to Moca (12 kms away) and La Vega (20 kms away). The hotel is located near the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago, slated to be the most modern private hospital in the country and whose construction is far advanced.

The announcement of the spring 2006 opening is made by businessman Heriberto Hernandez, hotel operator Carlos del Pino and hotel architect Jose Ramon Martinez Gonzalez.

Heriberto Hernandez said they decided to go ahead with the project given the development of industry and commerce in the area, and the growing demand for hotel services. The new hotel seeks to serve the crews of airlines using the Cibao airport, serve as logistic support to the universities and business ventures in the area.

Visiting for the announcement is Manuel E. Ovies, vice president for the Caribbean and Mercosur countries for Marriott International. He highlighted that the Courtyard brand offers moderate prices making it especially attractive for convenience-seeking business and leisure travelers.
