Leading Hotels of the World adds Punta Cana hotel

The prestigious certification organization Leading Hotels of the World has added the Punta Cana boutique hotel, Tortuga Bay to its select collection of hotels. Tortuga Bay is part of the Punta Cana Resort & Club, and is located beside the P. B. Dye-designed seaside golf course and the Six Senses Spa, part of the equally famous spa chain. The hotel has 50 rooms in 15 beachfront villas designed by world famous Dominican couturier Oscar de la Renta. Paul M. McManus, president of the chain made the announcement last week. Guests arriving at the hotel are given a personal welcome at Punta Cana International Airport and taken directly to their private villas.

“What is especially thrilling about our being chosen to be one of The Leading Hotels of the World,” said Paola Rainieri, of the Rainieri family, developers of the resort and Director of Public Relations, “is the fact that of the 355 hotels which applied for acceptance last year, only 24 – a mere 7% – were accepted, due to the company’s exacting level of quality.”
