Portillo new air terminal

Portillo Airport near Las Terrenas has a new terminal as the Samana peninsula prepares for larger-scale tourism. The new terminal has comfortable seating in its waiting area, and is mainly served by domestic traffic and small commuter carriers Aerodomca, Vol-Air, SapExpress and Air Century. The new terminal also features an air-conditioned VIP lounge. The old shack-type terminal is a thing of the past. The old airport among the palm trees served many jetsetters as they flew into the remote hideaway destination that is now also served by the international airport at El Catey. Once the new highway is completed, Samana will be accessible from Santo Domingo in less than two hours driving time.
