The Dominican Republic was named “official partner country of the ITB Berlin 2008. A cooperation agreement between the Dominican republic and the world’s leading travel trade show was signed, announced Raimund Hosch, CEO of Messe Berlin, the ITB organizer. As a result, the DR will be prominently features during the 5 to 9 March 2008 ITB.

Hosch commented: “The Dominican Republic is now firmly established in world tourism as a year-round destination for vacationers and for incentive tour operators. This has been borne out not only by the increasing number of visitors from Germany but also by the arrivals from the rest of the world, too, which are expected to exceed four million in 2007. Growth prospects are very promising, he stated. “The ITB Berlin is the ideal platform for convincing prospective holidaymakers of the unique tourism attractions of this destination.”

ITB reported that as the partner country of the ITB Berlin 2008, the DR will be organizing the opening ceremonies on Tuesday, 4 March, as well as being prominently featured on various stages during the trade show, with several events and some culinary delights too.

In addition to the Ministry of tourism’s pavilion in Hall 3.1, the Caribbean Hall, numerous other representatives from the Dominican private sector will be staging their own presentations at the ITB Berlin on an area occupying some 500 square meters.
